Evolution

Gifted Heart and Hope Foundation was established in 2014   with a mission to prevent or relieve poverty through the implementation of holistic and sustainable development programs combining economic empowerment with access to education and/or medical aid in the greater Nyanza province of Kenya.

The organization is dedicated to alleviating poverty globally operating through grass-root projects and educational initiatives. The mission of the GHOP is to partner with other organizations to support communities in need, fund sustainable community initiatives, and educate and raise awareness of economic and social issues related to poverty.

GHOP fights against poverty by using tools such as education, training, service provision, and participation to empower people who are faced with poverty and social exclusion The work of the GHOP is concentrated around enhancing actions to eradicate poverty and since then it has become the largest Kisumu based network gathering anti-poverty CBOs, grassroots organizations, and Kenyan organizations that are active in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

GHOP works in four main areas, including social enterprises, investments, universities, and social development. It approaches the issue of poverty by using a businesslike approach and considers factors that go beyond the economy that account for why people are impoverished. It tackles social issues and inequality and allows individuals to come out of poverty by providing them with tools to participate in the economy.

It focuses on six thematic areas, drug and alcohol addiction, health care services, education, water and sanitation, and emergencies. The core of the organization’s work is empowering local communities to build their resilience and ensure their transformation is sustainable and long-lasting, relieving them of poverty with an aim to achieve a vision of a world free of poverty, fear, and oppression.

Gifted Herat and Hope foundation has also addressed the skills shortage and job scarcity problem within its jurisdiction, and took in the role of Service Provider, being the link between the Sponsor and the Beneficiary.

They partner up with NGOs, churches, government agencies, and communities to provide relief and help those suffering rebuild their lives.
